Still Alice by Lisa Genova

Still Alice by Lisa Genova

Have you ever known someone that has Alzheimer's disease? My grandmother was recently diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease so when I came across this book I thought I should read it and try to get a little more insight as to what she's going through. Well I got so much MORE!! This book is REAL...and yes very sad at times, but it gives you a very in depth story of what it's like to be living with Alzheimer's disease.

This is Alice's story - an esteemed psychology professor at Harvard, living a comfortable life in Cambridge with her husband & how she and her family deal with her Alzheimer's disease diagnosis. I know this sounds like a very depressing book, but the relationships & bonds she makes while trying to cope with this disease are amazing and touching. She deals with many of her stuggles through comedy. This story is actually one of fiction, which is really hard to believe because of how detailed and real it seems.

A portion of the sale of each novel will go to the Alzheimer's Association.
320 pages.

  3. Picked this up at the library, looking for a new read. I had to read it because my grandfather (RIP) had Alzheimer's and it was hard to deal with.
